Zip Chicago is seeking Canopy Tour Guides (6 - 8 posiitons) and Office Staff (2 position) for the 2015 Season!
The tour consists of 8 ziplines up to dual 1,000' in length and suspension bridges. Successful persons shall have demonstrated success in customer service, ability to follow technical details, be comfortable at heights off the ground, familiar with learning styles, have a positive and outgoing personality, be a team player, and love working at a dynamic outdoor adventure company.
Additional plus experience would include but not be limited to: online reservation systems experience, telephone communication skills, trust worthy, scheduling, marketing, computer skills (word processing, calendars, excel spreadsheets), or canopy / zipline tour business experience. Reliable transportation to work is a plus! A college degree in business, adventure education, or equivalent is suggested. The successful person shall demonstrate a level of maturity, the ability to multitask, and solve complex situations. Persons with military service are extremely welcome to apply!
Compensation will be reflective of the applicants qualifications and budget allotments; ranging from $9 - $12/hour, plus tips, with possible bonuses based on performance and evaluation metrics.
A brief description by job function:
Office / Admin- (2 positions)
This successful person share be able to conduct themselves in a professional and polite manner, assisting our guests as they research and partake in our zip line services. Please and Thank You's are expected, along with professional communication skills and practices. When replying to guest e-mails or letters, the use of complete sentence structures is a must, while avoiding social media texting slang, and/ or jargon (OMG, LOL, TK, BRB, etc. in professional communications). This person will be placing updates on the Zip Chicago Facebook page and other media outlets, composing e-mails and guests communications, answering the telephone for addressing questions or our guests, securing reservations, processing payment and other confidential information, maintaining office supplies, printed materials, and general office cleaning to include sweeping, mopping, and dusting. A clean, friendly, and out going person with an attention to detail should excel in this position. The ability to multi-task, have moderate computer skills, and a professional telephone behavior are required. Please note that this is a position that will require you to refrain from personal texting, Internet surfing, or other behavior that is not is the best interests of the company. A professional appearance is a must. Both Seasonal Full time and Seasonal Part-time positions are being interviewed for at this time. Minimum age is a mature 18 years old and Zip Chicago is an EOE employer. Positions range from 20-40 hours per week; pay range of $9-$12 per hour. Zip Chicago is a customer service oriented business and work on weekends and holidays is expected for these positions. Up to 16 hours of training is provided with successful applicants being able to function on tasks shortly there after with minimally support. Professional and clean outdoor, business casual, or Zip Chicago approved attire required.
Zip Tour Guide - (6-8 positions)
This successful person shall be able to conduct themselves in a professional and friendly manner at all times. Being responsible for the safer aspects of their own and guest safety connections to the Zip Line Tour. Persons with a critical eye for detail and safety are a must. The position involves assisting guests with safety equipment instruction, sizing, and downing of equipment, tour and hiking to and around the course grounds, stairs, elevated platform work, and detail hand movements to including finger dexterity for opening and closing safety clips (carabiners), proper placement of safety pulleys, safety lanyard adjustments, helmet and harness fitting checks, safety commands, proper course operations, guest assistance procedures, guest retrieval procedures, tasteful jokes and guest communication, with a professional edge to know when enough is enough, focus on guest safety, and be firm when the situation warrants sturdy positions and comments. This includes maintaining a professional etiquette of performance, not mixing friends with duty, maintain safety awareness of all fall hazards and guest perspectives, understanding learning styles, and project an "adventure by choice" philosophy; encouraging guests to try, but forcing no one. Applicants with previous zip line guide experience and/or high ropes challenge course experience is a plus. Ability to lift up to 60 pounds, bend, walk, do stairs, and climb, work at heights upwards of 65 feet of the ground, work in the outdoors with exposure to sun, rain, wind, insects, and outdoor plants for upwards of three hours at a time, is expected. CPR, Basic First Aid also a plus. Minimum age is a mature 18 years old and Zip Chicago is an EOE employer. Positions range from 20-40 hours per week; pay range of $10-$15 per hour. Zip Chicago is a customer service oriented business and work on weekends and holidays is expected for these positions. Up to 24 hours of certification training is provided with successful applicants being able to function as "apprentice guides" for at least four actual zip line tours, demonstrating increasing comfort with job functions and tasks, and a growing sense of professional confidence and skill competence. Criminal and Sexual backgrounds checks are required by the State of Illinois Department of Labor (IDOL), Amusement Ride Division of all zip guides and employment is based on successful screening and approval by the IDOL Director or State Inspector. Professional and clean outdoor, business casual, or Zip Chicago approved attire required.
